Online Home Training Classes for 40 Children from Nowon-gu Dream Start
A total of 8 sessions every Tuesday and Thursday until November 4... Home training classes with professional fitness trainers including belly dance and aerobics to support healthy growth and development of children
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will operate the 'Dream Home Training Challenge' to promote the health of children from vulnerable groups.
This program was prepared to support the healthy growth and development of growing children who have had reduced outdoor activities due to COVID-19 by providing home training classes that children can easily follow at home.
The Dream Home Training Challenge selects and operates 40 children aged 6 to 12 who use Dream Start and need physical fitness management due to obesity or other reasons.
The program will be held for a total of 8 sessions every Tuesday and Thursday until November 4, with professional fitness trainers and children conducting real-time classes online via Zoom, including belly dance and aerobics. To facilitate smooth education, home training supplies such as TRX bands, TPE mats, dumbbells, massage balls, and hip scarves will also be provided to the families of the target children.
The home training is structured as follows: ▲ Week 1: Broadcast Dance ▲ Week 2: Band Stretching ▲ Week 3: Aerobics ▲ Week 4: Belly Dance.
In the first week, the program starts with broadcast dance to stimulate children's interest. In this process, children learn basic dance skills and body waves based on K-POP dances they like, encouraging them to enjoy physical activity.
In the second week, children learn band stretching methods that stimulate growth plates. Band stretching, which relaxes rounded backs and forward heads, is expected to help children develop correct posture. The third and fourth weeks consist of aerobics and belly dance to increase physical activity.
Additionally, on the last day of the Home Training Challenge, gift certificates will be awarded to children who participated in at least 6 out of the 8 sessions to encourage active participation.
Nowon-gu Dream Start conducts preventive and close integrated case management for vulnerable children who may be subject to neglect or abuse. It provides customized support such as various educational programs and health management for about 14,000 children annually to ensure all children in the area have equal opportunities to start.
Especially in the first half of this year, the 'Makers Science Classroom' and 'Coding Special Lecture' were held to enhance children's cognitive development by increasing their understanding and interest in science, receiving great responses from children.
Also, in August, an 'Online Global Camp' was held for 66 children from grades 1 to 6 in elementary school, operating various programs to prevent the vicious cycle where economic disparities in families become academic disparities and solidify social classes.
