Gwangju City Election Commission Launches 'Voting Experience Program' for Voters with Disabilities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Election Commission announced on the 15th that it conducted the ‘Election Training and Mock Voting Experience Program for Voters with Developmental Disabilities’ targeting voters with disabilities at the Dong-gu and Nam-gu Welfare Centers for the Disabled on October 8 and 14.
This training was a customized democratic citizenship education designed to ensure the proper exercise of voting rights by voters with disabilities. It covered the importance of election participation, voting methods, and overall election education, along with a mock voting experience conducted in an environment identical to an actual polling station.
A representative from the Gwangju Election Commission stated, “We hope that through this training, voters with disabilities will find it easier to participate in elections by reducing difficulties related to voting,” and added, “Ahead of next year’s presidential and local elections, we plan to continuously provide customized education to expand voting participation among vulnerable groups.”
