Choo Mi-ae: "Yoon Seok-yeol Must Apologize to the People and Resign from Candidacy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae stated on the 14th that the court ruling upholding the two-month suspension disciplinary action against former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol is justified, adding, "Former Prosecutor General Yoon should sincerely apologize to the public, withdraw his candidacy, declare his retirement from politics, and cooperate faithfully with the investigation even at this stage."
Through Facebook on the same day, former Minister Choo said, "I am glad to finally share a fragment of the truth with those who believed in the power of truth and waited despite excessive criticism calling the disciplinary action unreasonable." She continued, "With today's ruling, political prosecution must never again privatize prosecutorial power or abuse public authority for political ambitions," and insisted, "A thorough investigation into the Han Dong-hoon-Channel A case and the commissioned accusation case, which were the causes of the disciplinary reasons, must be conducted to prevent a tragic national scandal caused by political prosecution from happening again."
Regarding former Prosecutor General Yoon, former Minister Choo directly criticized, "He became the first person in constitutional history to be disciplined as Prosecutor General," and added, "Considering that he might be denied his lawyer qualification, he should reflect on whether his posture of running for president is appropriate." She also said, "Not only did the People Power Party allow political prosecution to join, but they also made him a presidential candidate, so the party must be held accountable as a public party," and stated, "We will watch together with the public what measures will be taken against a former Prosecutor General candidate whose disciplinary action has been confirmed."

Earlier, the Seoul Administrative Court had accepted former Prosecutor General Yoon's request for suspension of the disciplinary action's effect in December last year, paving the way for his return to duty. However, in today's main ruling, the court dismissed the plaintiff and upheld the two-month suspension as justified.
