Gwangju Shinsegae Awards 10 Million Won Scholarship to Multicultural Families

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) donated 10 million KRW in scholarships to multicultural families through the Asia Bright Community.

The donation ceremony was attended by Kim Myung-gun, Chairman of Asia Bright Community, and Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, among others, who graced the occasion.

As the number of multicultural families steadily increases every year and ongoing social attention is needed, this initiative was promoted to help those in difficult circumstances maintain hope and courage without losing focus.

The donated funds will be distributed to multicultural families in need, recommended by the Asia Bright Community.

Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “I hope the scholarships will be delivered to foreign residents and multicultural families living in harsh environments, providing them some comfort while living in Korea and in the city.”

Kim Myung-gun, Chairman of Asia Bright Community, expressed gratitude, saying, “During these difficult times prolonged by COVID-19, we thank Gwangju Shinsegae for their efforts for our region, allowing not only local residents but also multicultural families who might otherwise be marginalized to share in the joy of being part of the community.” He added, “I hope for the prosperity of Gwangju Shinsegae, which leads by example during tough times and inspires many people with hope and emotion.”

Meanwhile, Asia Bright Community is an organization that supports immigrants’ dreams based on the values that ‘all humans are equal and dignified beings,’ through activities such as publishing immigrant folk tale books for multicultural families, medical volunteer work, and operating small libraries.
