Body Missing Lower Half Found at Geoje Beach... Police Investigation Underway
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] A lower half of a body was found at a beach in Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to Tongyeong Coast Guard on the 13th, around 11 p.m. on the 10th, the lower half of a body was found floating at Gujora Beach in Ilun-myeon, Geoje City.
A passerby discovered it and quickly moved it to the shore before reporting it to the Coast Guard. The lower half was already decomposed, with bones exposed in a skeletonized state.
The Tongyeong Coast Guard collected DNA samples to determine whether the lower half belonged to a Korean or foreigner, male or female, and sent them to the National Forensic Service for analysis. They are also investigating how long the body had been in the sea and searching for the missing upper half.

A Tongyeong Coast Guard official stated, “When a body remains in the sea for a long time, some skin or bones may detach,” adding, “So far, there is no evidence indicating homicide, but we need to wait for the forensic results.”
