On the afternoon of the 12th, Roh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo District, is holding up the 'Conflict of Interest Prevention Practice Pledge' in his office to promote a culture of integrity in public service.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Roh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, signed the ‘Conflict of Interest Prevention Practice Pledge’ on the 12th to foster a clean public service culture.
On the same day, Mayor Roh signed the pledge containing five practical commitments that public officials must adhere to in his office and reaffirmed his determination to realize a ‘Clean Gangseo.’
This practice pledge, which all employees participate in, was prepared to prevent potential violations that may occur during job performance in advance, ahead of the enforcement of the 「Public Officials Conflict of Interest Prevention Act」.
Mayor Roh Hyun-song said, “A high sense of ethics and mission as a public official cannot be emphasized enough,” adding, “I will continue to do my best to create a ‘Clean Gangseo’ trusted by the residents.”
The Conflict of Interest Prevention Act contains ten behavioral standards to prohibit unfair private gain by public officials and ensure fair job performance, and it will be enforced from May 19 next year.
Yoo Sung-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, embarked on a ‘Flash Visit by the Alley Mayor in the Dong (Neighborhood)’ to address local livelihood issues.
From September 30 to October 8, he visited Gasan-dong, Siheung 1-dong, and Doksan 3-dong to encourage employees, respond to civil complaints, visit major project sites, listen to residents’ opinions, and hold residents’ meetings to examine local livelihood issues.
The ‘Flash Visit by the Alley Mayor in the Dong (Neighborhood)’ was organized to have direct communication time with residents in the frontline policy field of the dong. The first round of alley mayor activities covering five dongs was completed from May to June, and the second round will continue until Thursday, October 14, to hear the vivid voices of residents.
Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, “We will actively review the valuable opinions presented by residents during field visits to reflect them in district administration,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create a happy city Geumcheon in every neighborhood through communication with residents.”
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, attended the Cultural City Promotion Committee appointment ceremony held in the district office’s planning situation room on the afternoon of the 12th and held a meeting with the committee members.
The district appointed 17 members to the Cultural City Promotion Committee, including experts in culture and arts, urban planning, related local organizations, and civic groups, to establish a public-private governance cooperation system for the designation of Yeongdeungpo as a cultural city.
At the appointment ceremony, along with the presentation of appointment letters, open communication continued as various opinions were exchanged for the creation of a cultural city.
Mayor Chae said, “I will make further efforts to gather the wisdom and valuable opinions of the Cultural City Promotion Committee members so that Yeongdeungpo can leap forward as a cultural and artistic hub.”
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the THE K-Mart sponsorship goods delivery ceremony held at the mayor’s office at 11 a.m. on the 12th.
THE K-Mart, newly opened in Sanggye 1-dong, donated 100 bags of rice (10kg each) and gift certificates worth 2 million won to deliver to neighbors in need in the local community and take the lead in realizing community spirit on the occasion of its opening.
Following the Dobong and Mapo branches, THE K-Mart newly opened the Sanggye branch on September 6 and started operations.
The district plans to deliver the donated goods to low-income families in the area. The event proceeded with the delivery of goods and commemorative photos, attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok and THE K-Mart CEO Kim Kyung-hyun, among others.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for taking the lead in the community that works together,” and added, “The donated goods will be delivered to those struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.”
