According to the county on the 12th, this agreement designates 10 pharmacies in the jurisdiction as Life Love Pharmacies. The pharmacies agreed to cooperate in linking high-risk suicide groups to the Mental Health Welfare Center, providing proper medication guidance for suicide prevention, conducting life keeper training, and jointly promoting suicide prevention.
The Life Love Pharmacy project is aimed at preventing suicide by providing residents visiting pharmacies with information on the importance of suicide prevention and mental health services, and through pharmacological interventions such as managing suicide-risk medications and their usage. It greatly contributes to spreading a culture of respect for life.
Along with signing the agreement, the county also distributed self-assessment tools to each Life Love Pharmacy so that residents visiting the pharmacies can check their mental health themselves.
Governor Kim San said, “I hope this agreement will serve as an opportunity to prevent suicide caused by drug misuse and abuse and improve residents’ access to mental health services.”
Meanwhile, Muan County is actively working to reduce the suicide rate by implementing suicide means restriction projects, including designating 18 Life Love Practice Stores and two villages (55 locations) with safe pesticide storage boxes.
