Sancheong-gun Holds Final Report Meeting for '2030 Sancheong Vision Comprehensive Development Plan' Research Project

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has completed the '2030 Sancheong Vision Mid- to Long-term Comprehensive Development Plan Research Project' aimed at discovering future growth engines and has established a development strategy.
On the afternoon of the 7th, Sancheong-gun held a final report meeting at the county office's main conference room, attended by Kim Myung-moon, Director of Planning and Coordination Office, heads of various departments, and the research project contractors, the county announced on the 8th.
Lee Jae-woo, head of the Korea Industrial Development Research Institute, the executing agency of the project, said, "We focused on enhancing the effectiveness of the task through a differentiated planning process," adding, "In particular, we conducted the project with the participation of local experts, public officials, the council, and regional leaders to maximize execution capability."
At the report meeting, the mid- to long-term development plan was finally presented, containing core strategic projects, regional development measures, visions and strategies across all fields including roads, transportation, and social welfare, as well as plans to secure growth engines.
Sancheong-gun established the plan by analyzing local conditions and residents' demands and reflecting domestic and international environmental changes. Especially, region-specific distinctive projects such as revitalizing the Sancheong tourist district connecting the entire county and establishing an international oriental medicine anti-aging wellness medical tourism hub were proposed.
According to the strategic tasks, the goals by 2030 are to increase the current population of about 34,500 to 40,000, raise the per capita GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) from 72% (?1.19 trillion) of the national average in 2017 to 100% (?2.427 trillion), and boost the number of tourists from approximately 670,000 in 2019 to 1.3 million.
Looking at the detailed plans across nine sectors, ▲ Oriental medicine anti-aging field ▲ Culture, tourism, and sports field ▲ Agriculture and livestock industry field ▲ Regional economy field ▲ Regional development and infrastructure field ▲ Forest environment field ▲ Welfare and health field ▲ Education and population field ▲ Planning, administration, and autonomy field, reflecting goals, development directions, and promotion strategies such as strengthening residents' policy capabilities and establishing support systems.
Lee Jae-geun, Mayor of Sancheong-gun, stated, "Sancheong-gun's greatest strength lies in the anti-aging industry based on Jirisan Mountain and oriental medicinal herbs," adding, "Based on this, we will discover growth promotion measures and high value-added industries reflecting regional characteristics."

He continued, "Please do your best to establish various strategies for future growth by promoting future-oriented projects in line with trends, including attracting returnees to farming and rural areas and preventing the outflow of economically active population."
