This revised ordinance aims to encourage the use of the Korean language among Jinju citizens by changing the Sino-Korean term "National Language" to "Our Language" in celebration of the 575th Hangeul Day. It emphasizes the role of public institutions and others in leading the use and preservation of the Korean language, intending to improve the cultural life of Jinju citizens and promote the development of the Korean language by amending the existing ordinance.
In particular, the ordinance stipulates that, in principle, Korean should be used when naming events or projects conducted or hosted by Jinju City. It also introduces provisions to preserve regional dialects that symbolize the city's historical and cultural identity, thereby establishing a foundation for practicing exemplary and leading love for the Korean language compared to other regions.
