Ordered 45,000 Won Worth of Food at Dawn... "I Have No Money, I'll Deposit Tomorrow, Just Send It First"
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] The story of a restaurant owner who received an unreasonable request from a customer who ordered food late at night and said, "I don't have money, so I'll deposit it tomorrow, but please send the food first," has come to light.
On the morning of the 7th, a post titled "This just happened" was uploaded on the online community for small business owners and self-employed people called 'Apeunikka Sajangida' (Because It Hurts, I'm the Boss).
In the post, Mr. A, the owner of a restaurant in Anyang, said, "I was about to leave work at 2 a.m. when a customer called and asked if account transfer was possible. I said yes and prepared the food. The customer ordered 45,000 won worth of food," he began.
He continued, "However, even though the food was ready, the deposit was not made, so I called the customer. The customer said that their account was a 'hando account' (limited account), so immediate deposit was not possible, and asked if they could deposit it tomorrow morning," he explained.
Then customer B sent Mr. A a screenshot explaining the definition of a hando account and how to lift the limit, saying, "My card is not working right now, so I ordered thinking the payment would go through after the inspection is over, but they say the limit can only be lifted by submitting documents. Can I submit the bank documents in the morning and deposit right away?"
A hando account is an account with daily transfer and withdrawal limits imposed on newly opened accounts until the purpose of the transaction is verified, to prevent the account from being used for criminal activities. To lift the limit, proof documents verifying the transaction purpose must be submitted.
Mr. A said, "I told the customer on the phone that if they don't deposit, I can't send the food, and I plan to give the food to our delivery drivers to eat," and warned other self-employed people, "Those doing food business in Anyang, be careful. Always dispatch after receiving the deposit."

He also expressed in the comments, "Maybe because life is tough these days, there are people like this. I don't understand why they act like this over a small amount of food money. You experience all kinds of things while running a business," he lamented.
