Nationwide, 1,497 Confirmed Cases by 6 PM... 64 Fewer Than Yesterday
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from 0:00 to 18:00 on the 7th, a total of 1,497 new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed nationwide. This is 64 fewer than the 1,561 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
Compared to 1,579 cases on the Thursday a week ago (September 30), it is 82 fewer.
Looking at the regions where cases were confirmed on this day, the metropolitan area accounted for 1,105 cases (73.8%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 392 cases (26.2%).
By city and province, Seoul reported 564 cases, Gyeonggi 423, Incheon 118, Gyeongbuk 73, Gyeongnam 55, Chungbuk 52, Daegu 40, Busan and Chungnam each 34, Gangwon 28, Daejeon 24, Gwangju 16, Ulsan 10, Jeonbuk and Jeju each 9, Jeonnam 7, and Sejong 1. Cases were confirmed in all 17 cities and provinces nationwide.
On the previous day, 866 additional cases were reported after 18:00, closing with a final total of 2,427 cases.
The daily number of confirmed cases has remained in the four-digit range for 93 consecutive days since July 7 (1,211 cases), and the 8th will mark the 94th day.
Looking at the new confirmed cases over the past week (October 1?7), the daily counts were 2,485 → 2,247 → 2,085 → 1,672 → 1,575 → 2,028 → 2,427, exceeding 2,000 on all but two occasions.
Regarding major infection cases, a total of 27 people have been confirmed positive since the 30th of last month in connection with workplaces and foreigners (second case) in southern Gyeonggi.
At a kindergarten located in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, 10 people including students and their families have tested positive and are undergoing treatment.
In Sejong city, seven people including students, families, and external instructors tested positive related to an elementary school, and in a high school in Cheongju, Chungbuk, at least 13 people including 11 students were confirmed positive, with the exact source of infection under investigation.
