Opening of 'Smart Library' at City Hall Station on Seoul Line 1... Contactless Lending Available
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Library announced on the 7th that it has opened the Seoul Smart Library at the passageway of Exit 2 of City Hall Station on Subway Line 1, where books can be borrowed and returned contactlessly.
Available year-round and contactless for safe borrowing, books can be borrowed and returned even on library closure days or during nighttime hours when the library is closed. Since it can be used contactlessly without contact with others, citizens can use it safely.
This is an automated system with the largest capacity among smart libraries, holding 1,000 books tailored to the Seoul Metropolitan Library, allowing users to select desired books and borrow and return them unmanned. In particular, considering the subway foot traffic and the number of citizens using the Seoul Metropolitan Library, it was custom-made and installed by the Seoul Metropolitan Library.
The Seoul Smart Library allows any regular member of the Seoul Metropolitan Library to conveniently borrow books and is available 365 days a year during subway operating hours. Seoul citizens who are not members of the Seoul Metropolitan Library can issue a membership card contactlessly on-site through the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Library’ app (APP) and borrow books.
