[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] Regarding the Blue House's response to the 'Daejang-dong scandal,' stating that they are "taking it seriously and watching closely," Lee Jae-myung's campaign drew a line by saying, "It's a commonly used expression and doesn't seem to carry any special meaning."
On the night of the 5th, Min Hyung-bae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea and head of Lee Jae-myung's campaign strategy headquarters, appeared on CBS Radio's 'Hanpan Seungbu' and commented on a key Blue House official's remarks, saying, "The Blue House saying they are 'taking it seriously' is a phrase they always use when a major incident occurs."
He continued, "The investigation has now begun, and the facts that need to be revealed have not yet come to light," adding, "The Daejang-dong scandal is being framed as the 'Hwacheon Daeyu People Power Gate,' and the idea that this will be disadvantageous to Governor Lee Jae-myung is either a wishful thinking of the People Power Party or an opinion from those who want to push that narrative."
Min stated, "This issue concerns so-called unearned income and where the development profits went. The final destination of that money, where the money was kept, and the people who handled the money are the ones responsible for this scandal," asserting, "'The side refusing a special prosecutor is not the culprit,' but rather, the side that received the money is the culprit."
He added, "At the time, then-Mayor Lee Jae-myung could neither receive money nor had any reason to receive it," emphasizing, "The process of continuously linking Governor Lee Jae-myung to involvement or to having secured undue profits in any way is itself wrong." He further noted, "Since the premise is wrong, the outlook is also incorrect."

Meanwhile, Min expressed confidence regarding the Daejang-dong controversy, saying, "I don't think there will be any variables such as a drop in approval ratings, and looking at recent survey results and indicators, support within the party is steadily increasing," and added, "There seems to be a so-called bandwagon effect, where the consolidation effect for candidate Lee Jae-myung is becoming more pronounced."
