On the 5th, Minister Park appeared at the Ministry of Justice's National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee hearing and said in response to questions regarding the 'accusation manipulation' suspicion, "I think it is appropriate to abolish the Investigation Information Officer's Office for now."
Minister Park explained, "Regarding direct investigations, if the Supreme Prosecutors' Office handles information, we will create a reasonable alternative including how to organically handle information with the frontline," and added, "The Ministry of Justice also plans to conduct a special audit on the Investigation Information Officer's Office, which can be considered the origin of the issue."
He added, "From the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's standpoint, reconsidering how information related to the six major direct investigation crimes held by the prosecution is collected and analyzed, and what procedural controls should be applied, and redesigning accordingly might be the way to overcome this situation."
