Gangwon Province Learns 'Advanced Salmon Farming' from Denmark
Online Seminar on Korean-Style Smart Aquaculture Cooperation Held on the Afternoon of the 6th
Four Additional Large-Scale Industrial Complexes for 'Salmon Farming' to Be Established by 2030
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province is partnering with a Danish company that possesses excellent scientific aquaculture technology to collaborate on salmon aquaculture.
According to the Gangwon Province East Sea Headquarters on the 5th, the province plans to establish additional industrial complexes similar to Dongwon Industries Co., Ltd., which confirmed a private investment of 200 billion KRW last year for salmon aquaculture, to industrialize smart salmon farming.
Furthermore, to replace the annual salmon imports worth 400 billion KRW and to secure a leading position in the 60 trillion KRW salmon market, Gangwon aims to create four large-scale industrial complexes by 2030, targeting an annual production of 100,000 tons of salmon.
To this end, an online seminar will be held on the 6th to discuss Korea-style smart aquaculture and establish future cooperation systems with Danish companies and domestic and international experts.
At the seminar, Korea will present on the current status and development direction of the aquaculture industry (KMI), Gangwon Province's smart salmon aquaculture industrialization strategy (Gangwon Province), and Gangwon Province's aquaculture environment and recirculating aquaculture system (Gangwon Provincial University).
Denmark will present on the history of recirculating aquaculture system development in Denmark (Aqua Circle), Denmark's agricultural and fishery sector base and cooperation plans with Korea (Food Nation), and the progress, approach, and risk factors of Danish aquaculture projects (Fisco Group).
