The committee stated, "Manabe and Hasselmann were recognized for their contributions to the physical modeling of the climate and enhancing the mathematical predictability of global warming, while Parisi was acknowledged for discovering the interaction of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems ranging from atoms to planetary scales."
According to the will of Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel, the Nobel Prize is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of humanity. Starting with the Physiology or Medicine Prize announced the previous day, the Chemistry Prize will be announced on the 6th, the Literature Prize on the 7th, the Peace Prize on the 8th, and the Economics Prize on the 11th.
