Busan City Utilizes Korean Pavilion at Dubai Expo for 5 Months through Government, Organizing Committee, and KOTRA Collaboration
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City is intensifying its overseas promotional activities to attract the Expo.
Busan City announced on the 4th that, in collaboration with the government, the bid committee, and KOTRA, it will conduct a promotional campaign for attracting the 2020 Dubai Expo in Busan for five months from October 1st to March 31st next year, during the Expo period.
The Dubai Expo was postponed by one year due to COVID-19 and is being held this year.
Under the theme "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future," it opened in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE.
This Dubai Expo is the first Expo to be held in the Middle East region, attracting global attention. It is expected to have 25 million participants from 192 countries.
The Korea Pavilion is located in the Mobility zone among the three sub-themes and is the fifth largest among participating countries. It was built under the theme "Smart Korea, Moving the World to You."
During the Dubai Expo, where numerous heads of state and minister-level officials participate, Busan City plans to carry out promotional activities to attract the Busan Expo.
A Busan Expo promotional booth will be operated on the first floor of the Korea Pavilion. A touchscreen (LG 43-inch stand type), to be launched for the first time, will be installed, allowing visitors to directly interact with various contents such as videos about the Busan Expo and the city brand.
Also, in the VIP room of the Korea Pavilion, an exhibition titled "Same Age, Different Era Angle" will display photos by the Busan-born master photographer Im Eung-sik, showing Busan in the 1950s alongside photos of Busan in 2021 by a Kyungsung University photography student.
During Korea Week from January 16th to 20th next year, the government, bid committee, and KOTRA will jointly hold Korea Day events (dinner, cultural performances, VIP meetings, etc.) inviting key figures from the UAE and BIE to actively engage in bid negotiations.
Additionally, a separate Busan Expo promotional booth will be operated at the Dubai Korean Products Exhibition held at the Dubai Exhibition Center (DEC).
