Lee Jae-myung: "Gyeonggi Province National Audit, a Good Opportunity to Inform the Nation About Controversial Issues"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, governor of Gyeonggi Province and a presidential candidate in the Democratic Party primary, announced that he will undergo the National Assembly’s audit of Gyeonggi Province as scheduled.
On the 3rd, after announcing his campaign pledges for the Gyeonggi region as a Democratic Party presidential candidate, Lee visited the press room and said, "There is a saying, 'If you can't avoid it, enjoy it,'" adding, "This audit may lead to unnecessary disputes, but I see it as a good opportunity to promote provincial administration."
He continued, "It is somewhat regrettable that there is little opportunity and time to interact (with the National Assembly) due to the presidential primary schedule," and introduced, "Last year, I only had to attend the Public Administration and Security Committee, but when there was hesitation at the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, I contacted them and told them to come to the Gyeonggi Province audit."
In particular, he expressed expectations by saying, "Since there is nothing wrong with the provincial administration, I will be able to explain all disputes and current issues through the nationwide live broadcast."
Regarding concerns that this audit might become the so-called "Daejang-dong audit" related to the Seongnam Daejang-dong private-public development project, Lee added, "I think it is good because I can show all the available materials."
