Professor Park Young-do of Dong-Eui University Receives Best Paper Award in Welding Metallurgy from American Welding Society
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Professor Park Young-do of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Materials Engineering Major at Dong-Eui University received the Best Paper Award in the Welding Metallurgy field from the American Welding Society.
He received this paper award (William Spraragen Memorial Award) during the Febtech2021 event hosted by the American Welding Society on September 15th.
The American Welding Society awards this honor to the best paper in the welding metallurgy field among those published in the ‘Research Supplement of the Welding Journal’ in 2020.
Professor Park published a paper titled ‘Four Types of LME Cracks in RSW of Zn-Coated AHSS’ in the March 2020 issue.

In his paper, Professor Park classified liquid metal embrittlement (LME) cracks in zinc-coated steel sheets for automobiles based on crack location, thermal characteristics, mechanical properties, and metallurgical perspectives, proposing a new classification of crack types and elucidating complementary mechanisms.
