Jeonbuk Province Sets Next Year's Living Wage at 10,835 Won per Hour
An Increase of 584 Won Compared to This Year... Applied to 715 Public Officials and Fixed-Term Workers
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 30th that it has finalized the 2022 living wage to be applied to public workers, fixed-term workers affiliated with the provincial government and invested/established institutions, as well as private consignment workers, at 10,835 KRW per hour.
This is an increase of 584 KRW from the living wage hourly rate of 10,251 KRW applied this year, which is 118% of the next year's minimum wage hourly rate of 9,160 KRW announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The 2022 Jeollabuk-do living wage was determined by the Jeollabuk-do Living Wage Deliberation Committee, considering the 2022 government minimum wage decision amount, minimum living expenses for a three-person household, additional living expenses, and the rate of increase in living costs.
The living wage refers to a wage paid above the minimum wage to enable workers to maintain a minimum humane and cultural standard of living.
The living wage decided this time will be applied from January next year to 715 workers of Jeonbuk Province, invested/established institutions, and workers performing consignment contracts.
Jeonbuk Province has been implementing the living wage system since 2017 in accordance with the Living Wage Ordinance.
