Milk Prices Followed by Beverage Prices to Rise Consecutively Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] With the milk price hike scheduled for next month, beverage prices such as Sprite and Achim Haetsal are also set to rise one after another.
According to the convenience store industry on the 29th, Coca-Cola will raise the prices of 36 beverage items including Fanta, Sprite, Ambasa, Powerade, and Toreta by about 5.3% to 10%. For example, a 250ml can of Sprite will increase by 7.1% from 1,400 won to 1,500 won, a 240ml can of Powerade Mountain will go up 10% from 1,000 won to 1,100 won, and a 500ml bottle of Toreta will rise 5.6% from 1,800 won to 1,900 won.
This is the first time in about nine months since January that Coca-Cola has raised prices for convenience store products. Coca-Cola and Seagram, which raised prices in January this year, are excluded from this increase.
Woongjin Foods has decided to raise prices for the first time in nine years and six months since April 2012. For Woongjin Foods, the 500ml PET bottle of Haneulbori will increase by 6.7% from 1,500 won to 1,600 won, and the 180ml bottles of Achim Haetsal and Chorok Maesil will each rise 8.3% from 1,200 won to 1,300 won.

An industry official explained, "The factors that had been suppressing beverage prices for nine years have reached their limit," adding, "The rise in raw material costs, fuel, logistics, and labor costs contributed to the price increase."
