"600km Run" Kolon Informs Ulleungdo Children About Eco-Friendly Energy
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Kolon Group's non-profit foundation Flower and The Little Prince conducted the educational program "Visiting Energy School, Eco Longlong," visiting five elementary schools on Ulleungdo Island where students participated.
The program, held over three days starting from the 28th, utilized an eco-friendly energy education vehicle converted from a 5-ton truck. Departing from Seoul, it traveled 600 km by land and sea roads to Ulleungdo. The children learned principles related to eco-friendly energy and had hands-on experiences such as making hydrogen cars and playing tug-of-war using solar energy.
Kim Yoon-won, Senior Manager of Kolon CSR Office, said, "Although preparations such as loading the education vehicle were more challenging than usual, the students actively participated in the education and had an enjoyable time," adding, "We will continue to work with students who have limited access and serve as ambassadors for eco-friendly energy."
Choi Ji-in, a teacher at Cheonbu Elementary School in the area, said, "This is the first time an eco-friendly energy education program has been conducted on Ulleungdo," and added, "It was not just simple education but included various hands-on activities where students could directly create eco-friendly energy, making it fun for them to participate."
Since its inception in 2009, this educational program has involved 105,816 participants from 1,252 schools. Considering that multicultural family students on Ulleungdo have limited travel experience, the company invited them to the Ulleungdo Cosmos Resort.
