Bucheon City Appoints 89 Citizen Policy Experts on Fine Dust... "Reflecting Citizen-Centered Policies"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyesook Park] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 28th that it has appointed 89 citizens as fine dust citizen policymakers and will begin full-scale activities.
On the 24th, the city held an 'Online Launch Ceremony for Fine Dust Citizen Policymakers' together with Bucheon YMCA and presented appointment certificates to the 89 selected citizens.
This project was promoted to raise citizen awareness of Bucheon City's fine dust policy projects and to establish citizen-experienced policies.
It is a citizen participation program that trains and operates fine dust citizen policymakers who serve as guides and bridges connecting the administration and citizens, conducted in collaboration with Bucheon YMCA.
The citizen policymakers will engage in various activities such as monitoring fine dust countermeasure project sites, monthly reporting meetings, and citizen surveys.
Heo Sang-yoon, Chairman of Bucheon YMCA, said, "Fine dust citizen policymakers represent the active will of citizens to solve local problems together," and added, "We hope to create a city free of fine dust together through the activities of the citizen policymakers."
Jang Deok-cheon, Mayor of Bucheon City, said, "We will actively reflect the diverse opinions of citizen policymakers in establishing fine dust policies that citizens can feel."
