Accordingly, 41.2 billion KRW will be invested to promote a 7.2 km two-lane facility improvement project for the Gogeum-myeon Sangjeong to Cheongyong section.
This section was upgraded to a national road in 2001, and with the completion of the connecting bridges (Sinji Bridge, Jangbogo Bridge, Gogeum Bridge) on National Road No. 77 connecting Wando and Gangjin Maryang, traffic volume has surged. However, due to narrow road width, poor alignment, and severe curves, there remained a risk of traffic accidents.
Therefore, the county collaborated with Jeollanam-do and visited central government agencies and political circles several times to propose the project, resulting in its inclusion in the 5th Five-Year National Road and National Local Road Construction Plan.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “With the inclusion of the Gogeum Sangjeong to Cheongyong section in the national plan, it is expected to improve residential conditions, tourism, and regional economic revitalization by providing transportation convenience and better accessibility to local residents and tourists. I would like to thank the central government agencies, political circles, and Jeollanam-do officials who have provided much support, and we will do our best to ensure that this project proceeds smoothly and promptly.”
