[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Over the past three years, the home shopping channel that received the most complaints at the Korea Communications Standards Commission was Lotte Home Shopping.
According to data submitted by the Korea Communications Standards Commission to Rep. Cho Seung-rae of the Democratic Party, a member of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee, from 2018 to August this year, there were 161 complaints related to Lotte Home Shopping, the highest among all 17 home shopping channels (including data home shopping).
Next were CJ O Shopping (CJ OnStyle) with 149 complaints, Hyundai Home Shopping with 147, NS Home Shopping with 111, Gongyoung Shopping with 109, Home&Shopping with 100, and GS SHOP with 81.
Among data home shopping channels, SK Stoa had the most complaints with 84, followed by K Shopping with 66, NS SHOP+ with 63, and Shinsegae Shopping with 60.
Lotte Home Shopping also had the most complaints this year, with 17 complaints filed by August, accounting for 15% of the total 115 complaints. In January this year, it received a legal sanction of a "warning" for expressing licensed products of a famous brand as if they were products from the brand's headquarters while selling them.

Rep. Cho Seung-rae said, "Strict management, supervision, and sanctions are necessary for deceptive consumer practices such as false and exaggerated advertising by home shopping channels," adding, "The Korea Communications Standards Commission must handle matters more strictly to prevent controversies over lenient reviews."
