"Find Talent to Lead AI Business" KT Holds Internal Hackathon
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 27th that it will hold an AI hackathon competition, ‘AI Play 2021,’ to find the company’s ‘hidden masters’ who will lead the artificial intelligence (AI) business sector.
A hackathon is a contest combining ‘hacking’ and ‘marathon,’ where participants such as planners, developers, and designers develop services matching a given theme within a limited time. From the 6th to the 15th of this month, KT Group opened registration to all employees, receiving applications from 316 people in 120 teams. After preliminary rounds from the 29th to October 13th, the finals will be held over two days starting October 21st at KT’s Bundang headquarters.
Participants form teams of three, and individuals who have not formed a team beforehand will be assigned to teams through a team matching program. The theme is ‘Classification and regression prediction using internal work processing data,’ with detailed information to be disclosed at the participant orientation held on the 28th.
A total of 20 teams passing the preliminaries will advance to the final round, where awards will be given in order of one grand prize team, one excellence prize team, and three merit prize teams. To ensure fairness in data usage and prevent external leaks, all missions allow data download and use only within the company’s ‘AI platform’ called ‘AIDU.’ For participants using AIDU for the first time, separate training on how to use AIDU will be provided.
