Government Official Under Investigation for Real Estate Speculation Found Dead in Hillside

According to the Jangseong Police Station in Jeonnam on the 25th, around 7:30 PM the previous day, police searching near Motsaetunnel in Jangseong County discovered senior public official A deceased in a nearby mountain.
A had last communicated with family in a pessimistic tone and lost contact; the family reported him missing to the police at 7:07 PM and confirmed his cellphone location near Seonsan.
A letter addressed to his family was found among his belongings at the time of discovery, and there were no unusual external injuries on his body.
A had recently been under police investigation for allegedly purchasing real estate under his own, family’s, and relatives’ names using development information obtained during his previous work duties.
