As of 6 PM, 2,189 Confirmed Cases... Record High Likely to Be Broken Again

According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 24th, a total of 2,189 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.
The figure of 2,189 itself is the highest record based on the 6 p.m. tally. The previous highest was 1,802 cases the day before.
By region, the metropolitan area accounted for 1,651 cases (75.4%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 538 cases (24.6%).
By city and province, Seoul reported 789 cases, Gyeonggi 702, Incheon 160, Daegu 116, Gyeongbuk 57, Chungbuk 56, Chungnam 49, Gangwon 47, Busan 46, Gyeongnam 42, Jeonbuk 41, Daejeon 36, Gwangju 17, Jeonnam 14, Jeju 13, and Ulsan 4. Cases were reported in 16 cities and provinces nationwide, excluding Sejong.
Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at midnight on the 25th is expected to increase further, reaching at least the 2,500 range, and possibly as high as 2,700 to 2,800 cases.
The day before, after 6 p.m., 632 additional cases were reported, closing at a final count of 2,434. If new confirmed cases exceed 2,434, it will be the highest record since the COVID-19 outbreak in Korea.
Major cluster infection cases include the Yangsan medical institution, where the cumulative confirmed cases increased to 64. A confirmed case in Geoje tested positive in a test before quarantine release after contact with confirmed cases related to local companies and religious facilities. The cumulative confirmed cases related to Geoje companies and religious facilities reached 50.
