[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] A cluster of 45 COVID-19 cases has been confirmed at Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Currently, comprehensive testing is underway for 2,500 hospital medical staff, employees, and patients, so the number of confirmed cases is expected to increase further.
According to Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital on the 23rd, since a COVID-19 case was first detected in a ward on the 17th, a total of 45 people have tested positive so far.
Among the confirmed cases are 35 medical staff and employees, 5 patients, and 5 caregivers, totaling 45. Most of the hospital staff were breakthrough infections after completing vaccination.
Of the 35 infected staff members, all except 2 unvaccinated individuals had completed vaccination with vaccines such as AstraZeneca and Pfizer.
Some of the infected staff shared the same office space, and sporadic infections have also been identified during the comprehensive testing process.

A Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital official stated, "We are nearly finishing the comprehensive investigation and awaiting results," adding, "Patients who tested positive are in separate isolation, and outpatient care, surgeries, admission and discharge procedures, and other hospital operations are being conducted normally."
