Jeonnam Namdo Market, Popular Among Companies and Organizations During Chuseok Peak Season
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 23rd that as a result of promoting the Namdo Market Chuseok Gift Buying Campaign, 189 companies·organizations including GS ITM purchased goods worth 267 million KRW in bulk, such as pears and abalone.
By company and organization, the Korea Childcare Association (President Lee Jung-gyu) ordered abalone from Wando worth 24 million KRW, B2B platform service specialist GS ITM (CEO Byun Jae-cheol) ordered Naju pears worth 18 million KRW, and Namyang Construction ordered semi-dried fish for ancestral rites worth 12 million KRW in bulk.
Jung Bo-young, Executive Director of GS ITM, said, “We participated in this campaign to support farms struggling due to unprecedented monsoon rains and COVID-19 this year, hoping for the rapid stabilization of farm management,” and added, “We will continue to plan various social contribution programs along with the farm support campaign as part of ESG management pursuing environmental, social contribution, and ethical management.”
Also, Lotte Insurance purchased Naju pears worth 12 million KRW, Dongwoo Electric Co., Ltd. located in Gyeonggi bought Naju pears worth 7 million KRW, and the Gyounam-dong Community Center in Seoul purchased apple and pear sets worth 6 million KRW.
Jeonnam Province conducted online and non-face-to-face promotional activities targeting local governments, public institutions, companies, organizations, and hometown associations to promote consumption of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products and increase income for farmers and fishermen, which have been depressed due to the spread of COVID-19.
Kang Ha-chun, Director of Agricultural Food Distribution Division of Jeonnam Province, said, “Companies and organizations are taking the lead in purchasing Jeonnam agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, greatly helping to expand sales channels,” and added, “We will strive to secure diversified sales channels through Namdo Market to increase sales for farmers, fishermen, and small business owners facing difficulties in sales.”
