Drinking Alcohol at Dawn and Driving a Private Ambulance Causes a 'Traffic Accident'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] A driver who caused an accident while driving a private ambulance under the influence of alcohol was apprehended by the police.
According to the police on the 19th, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul is investigating driver A for allegedly driving a private ambulance under the influence of alcohol and crashing into a parked sports utility vehicle (SUV) on a road in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, around 3 a.m. that day.
As a result of the accident, the ambulance overturned, and both A and one passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. At the time, the ambulance was not transporting an emergency patient.
The police stated that although A could not undergo a breathalyzer test due to injuries to the mouth area from the accident, alcohol was detected using a non-contact sensor. Consequently, a blood test was conducted on A.

A police official said, "To accurately measure the blood alcohol concentration, we requested the National Forensic Service to analyze the collected blood sample," adding, "If drunk driving is confirmed, we will consider investigating the passenger for aiding and abetting drunk driving."
