Fire on Fishing Boat off Hwaseong Coast... No Casualties Reported
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] A fire broke out on a fishing boat off the coast of Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, but the crew extinguished it themselves, preventing any casualties.
According to the Pyeongtaek Coast Guard on the 19th, around 10 a.m. that day, a fire occurred in the engine room of fishing boat A (9 tons) carrying 21 people, approximately 3.7 km south of Ipado, Hwaseong.
The crew quickly evacuated the passengers and extinguished the fire themselves with a fire extinguisher in about five minutes.
However, due to the fire, the steering gear was damaged and the electricity was cut off, leaving boat A unable to navigate on its own.

After receiving the report, the Pyeongtaek Coast Guard dispatched three patrol boats and two coastal rescue boats nearby to the scene and conducted rescue operations. Using coast guard vessels and civilian ships, they towed boat A, which was unable to navigate, to Jeongok Port in Hwaseong. All passengers were safely rescued.
