The Kremlin Press Office announced this on the 17th (local time) by posting a video of President Putin voting online on its official website. The video showed President Putin, who is self-isolating at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence office on the outskirts of Moscow, exercising his voting rights using an electronic voting system.
President Putin has been self-isolating at the residence since the 14th due to COVID-19 infections among his close aides. Although he remains healthy without any COVID-19 symptoms, it was reported that he plans to maintain self-isolation for more than a week in accordance with quarantine regulations.
Russia is currently holding a general election to elect 450 State Duma deputies for a five-year term. To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread, Russian election authorities extended the voting period to three days from the 17th to the 19th and allowed online voting in seven regions including Moscow, Sevastopol, Kursk Oblast, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Yaroslavl Oblast, Murmansk Oblast, and Rostov Oblast.
