Cheong Wa Dae Holds NSC Standing Committee Meeting: "Closely Monitoring Developments Related to North Korea's Missile Launch"

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 16th, the Blue House held a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office, to discuss North Korea's missile launches and consultations with related countries.
The attendees first closely monitored the domestic and international trends related to North Korea's successive missile launches and agreed to further strengthen consultations with related countries based on recent outcomes from the South Korea-US, South Korea-Japan, and South Korea-US-Japan senior nuclear envoy meetings, as well as the South Korea-China Foreign Ministers' talks.
They also evaluated the outcomes of the South Korea-Australia Foreign and Defense Ministers (2+2) meeting held on the 13th and agreed to further expand bilateral cooperation in various fields including ▲ COVID-19 and economic recovery ▲ climate change ▲ critical mineral supply chains ▲ space and defense science and technology.
The attendees also reviewed ▲ the utilization of national science and technology capabilities and increased investment in defense R&D ▲ progress in promoting the development of future-oriented defense science and technology, and held in-depth discussions on ways to systematically foster defense R&D projects through cooperation between the military and industry-academia-research sectors.
