Yoon Byung-tae, Jeonnam Provincial Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, Submits Resignation Letter... Intends to Run for Mayor of Naju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Ja-min] Yoon Byung-tae, former Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Jeonnam Province, who intends to run for the mayoral election of Naju City, Jeonnam, scheduled for June next year, submitted his resignation letter on the 16th.
Yoon’s resignation letter is expected to be accepted around next month. Until the resignation is accepted, he is expected to continue going to work and actively address local issues such as securing next year’s budget.
Yoon was appointed as Deputy Governor for Political Affairs in August 2018 through an open recruitment process and was reappointed after completing his term.
Since passing the 1992 civil service exam, he has gained diverse experience including serving as Budget Review Officer at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and Senior Administrative Officer at the Presidential Secretariat, and is known to have built a broad and solid network within central government agencies.
Meanwhile, with incumbent Mayor Kang In-gyu of Naju City expected to run for a third term, about ten candidates including Deputy Governor Yoon Byung-tae, former Vice President of Jeonnam Maeil Park Won-woo, former Senior Administrative Officer at the Blue House Choi Yong-seon, and Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member Lee Min-jun are emerging as potential contenders.
