Accountant Oh Yunjin Appointed as Committee Member of International SME Accounting Firm Advisory Group
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on the 16th that Yoonjin Oh, a CPA at Woori Accounting Firm, has been appointed as a member of the Small and Medium Practices Advisory Group (SMPAG) under the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). The term of office is three years.
The Small and Medium Practices Advisory Group represents small and medium-sized accounting firms and SMEs worldwide, providing strategic advice on IFAC's activities. It plays a role in regularly advising on the development process of international auditing standards to ensure relevance to SMEs.
CPA Oh worked at Samil Accounting Firm and PwC Detroit from 2006 to 2015. She also has several years of experience with asset management companies and investment institutions.
Kim Young-sik, President of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, said, "This is significant as the first case of a Korean entering an international accounting organization at a time when the role of small and medium accounting firms and SMEs has become important. We are pleased that our institute and members’ capabilities are recognized globally, and we will strive to actively represent the positions of SMEs and Asian countries facing challenges."

Currently, domestic figures active on the international stage related to accounting or auditing include Youngkyun Ahn, Director of IFAC (Full-time Vice President of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants), Sungnam Kim, member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), and Dall Choi, member of the Accounting Education Panel (CPA at Samil Accounting Firm). Additionally, at the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), Yongseok Jeon (Head of Audit at Anjin Accounting Firm) serves as a director, Jaehong Hwang (CPA at Anjin Accounting Firm) serves on the CAPA Audit Group, and Sunyoung Oh (Auditor at Cosmax BTI) serves on the CAPA Ethics Group.
