Attendees included Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Hussein A. Al-Katani, CEO of S-Oil, President Ryu Yeol, and Shim Jeong-won, Director of Seongsan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
S-Oil donated 910 boxes of food and daily necessities packages, including songpyeon, worth approximately 50 million KRW to Seongsan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center. These packages will be distributed to 910 low-income households within Mapo-gu.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, promoted the awarding of commendations for the 22nd Social Welfare Day at 10 a.m. on the 15th in the Planning Situation Room on the 5th floor of the district office.
Due to COVID-19, the commemorative ceremony for the 22nd Social Welfare Day could not be held, so the commendation ceremony for the meritorious persons was conducted during a scheduled meeting of the Disabled Persons Subcommittee.
A total of 15 individuals (5 in neighbor care sector, 10 in public-private cooperation sector) who contributed to local social welfare were awarded commendations.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok attended the award ceremony after the Disabled Persons Subcommittee meeting, one of the six subcommittees of the Nowon-gu Community Security Council, and the ceremony proceeded with commendations and photo sessions.
Mayor Oh said, "I regret that we could not hold the Social Welfare Day commemorative ceremony this year due to COVID-19," and added, "I thank everyone for their continuous efforts to improve local welfare despite difficult circumstances," conveying congratulations to the awardees.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, attended the "Sharing Love Songpyeon for Chuseok" event held at Dangsan-gol Happiness Pantry on the afternoon of the 15th and made songpyeon.
At the event hosted by the Yeongdeungpo-gu Saemaul Women's Association, Mayor Chae experienced making songpyeon with seniors and multicultural families, reflecting on the meaning of the Chuseok holiday.
The songpyeon made that day will be distributed later to a total of 180 households, including seniors living alone and low-income families in the district.
Mayor Chae said, "I will take even more meticulous care to ensure that no citizen is left out and everyone can have a warm holiday."
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, visited religious facilities in the district on the 15th to request cooperation for vaccination in celebration of Chuseok.
This visit was arranged to express gratitude to major religious facilities that cooperated in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the community and to request cooperation to increase vaccination rates among unvaccinated religious leaders.
On this day, Mayor Kim visited Korea Central Church (Senior Pastor Im Seok-sun, President of Gwangjin-gu Christian Association) and Guui-dong Catholic Church (Pastor Jeong Jin-ho, Pedro, Head of the 8th District of the Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul), exchanged holiday greetings, and discussed ways to overcome COVID-19.
Mayor Kim said, "To maximize the effect of vaccination and restore our precious daily lives as soon as possible, it is essential to complete the second dose actively," and added, "As a key player in community quarantine, I ask for participation and promotion so that more citizens can join vaccination."
Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, visited a multicultural family in Sinwol 1-dong, a Hope Sharing partner, on the afternoon of the 14th to deliver warm Chuseok gifts.
The visited household is a low-income multicultural single-parent family where the mother is not fluent in Korean and has two elementary school children.
Mayor Kim delivered holiday foods such as songpyeon, jeon (Korean pancakes), and fruits made by residents to ensure they do not spend a lonely Chuseok and checked on their well-being.
Especially, upon hearing the sad story that the 6th-grade daughter dreams of becoming a composer but cannot attend an academy due to expensive tuition, Mayor Kim promised to support education expenses through cooperation with local private academies, the community service center, and the local community security council.
Yangcheon-gu designated the period from September 10 to 17 as "Sharing Week," during which employees actively visit 1,028 partnered households, including seniors living alone and low-income families, to provide companionship and non-face-to-face holiday gifts.
Clean Country donated Chuseok quarantine supplies worth 25 million KRW to Yongsan Welfare Foundation to share warm hearts with low-income seniors during the holiday.
The items sponsored by Clean Country Co., Ltd. include 14,800 KF94 masks, 1,152 packs of wet wipes (70 sheets each), and 1,200 bottles of hand sanitizer (575 ml each). These will be distributed to low-income seniors through local community service centers and senior welfare facilities.
