Gwangju University 2022 Academic Year Early Admission Closed... Competition Rate 4.24 to 1
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 15th that the 2022 academic year college entrance early admission application deadline resulted in 6,602 applicants competing for 1,558 spots, recording an average competition rate of 4.24 to 1.
Looking at the competition rates by admission type, the regional student admission, which selects students 100% based on school records, had 2,240 applicants for 445 spots, recording a 5.03:1 ratio. The general student admission, which reflects 30-40% of the interview exam score, had 4,030 applicants for 1,032 spots, showing a competition rate of 3.91 to 1.
By department, the Nursing Department (regional students) had the highest competition rate at 10.57 to 1, followed by the Early Childhood Education Department (regional students) at 9.18 to 1, and the Health Administration Department (regional students) at 7.70 to 1.
The Department of Sports Science (regional students) and the Beauty and Cosmetology Department (regional students) also showed high competition rates of 7.60 to 1 and 7.17 to 1, respectively.
Gwangju University will conduct the interview exam for the general student admission online in a non-face-to-face format on October 15 (Nursing Department on the 14th and 15th), and the successful candidates will be announced on October 29 for departments not applying the minimum CSAT score and on December 14 for departments applying the minimum CSAT score.
Meanwhile, Gwangju University, which ranked first in the Honam-Jeju region and third nationwide in scholarships per enrolled student (2021 university information disclosure for comprehensive universities with 5,000 to 10,000 students, excluding industrial universities), is putting all its efforts into minimizing the tuition burden for new students.
Gwangju University, which announced the expansion of full scholarship recipients to provide 'full tuition exemption' for new students within the 8th income bracket of the national scholarship, plans to provide academic encouragement scholarships of 700,000 KRW to early admission successful applicants and 400,000 KRW to waitlisted successful applicants to reduce living expenses for new students.
In addition, to attract outstanding students, the university operates the Hosinmaewon Special Scholarship, which is awarded differentially based on CSAT scores. The Hosinmaewon Special Scholarship offers exceptional benefits such as full tuition exemption for four years if the average of four CSAT subjects is grade 1, full support for one overseas language training program selection, and up to 4 million KRW in academic encouragement scholarships.
