Gwangju-Jeonnam Small and Medium Enterprises Propose Priority Purchase of Local Products to the National Assembly
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs (Regional Chairman Lim Kyung-jun) conveyed the management difficulties of local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the National Assembly on the 14th.
The Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs held a meeting with National Assembly member Kim Kyung-man, who serves as the Special Committee Chairman for SMEs of the Democratic Party of Korea, to discuss policy support measures for SMEs.
At the meeting, they proposed ▲expanding sales channels for local SMEs ▲legislation to mandate the purchase ratio of local SME products by institutions relocated to innovation cities to activate joint projects such as joint purchasing and sales, marketing, and R&D by cooperatives ▲priority purchase of local SME products when establishing and operating Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) University ▲creation and support of a cooperative logistics complex within the 'Gwangju Energy Valley General Industrial Complex' ▲inclusion of SME cooperatives in the Gwangju 'Social Economy Support Ordinance' ▲application of acquisition tax reduction benefits for companies entering leased industrial complexes.
Lim Kyung-jun, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs, said, "There needs to be significant interest in expanding sales channels such as priority purchasing of local products by local governments and regional public institutions for local SMEs and small business owners suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 crisis."
In response, Assemblyman Kim said, "I will do my best to ensure that the local issues proposed today are reflected in the National Assembly."
The meeting was attended by nine chairpersons of SME cooperatives representing various industries in our region, including Lim Kyung-jun, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters, Kim Seok-won, Vice Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs, Kim Hyung-jun, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Furniture Industry Cooperative, Choi Kyung-chae, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Printing Information Industry Cooperative, and Noh Jong-ho, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Plastic Industry Cooperative.
