‘Edison’ Gathered? Silla University Invention Club Sweeps Domestic and International Competition Awards
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Students from the Silla University Invention Club achieved remarkable success this year by sweeping six awards, including grand prizes, at domestic and international invention competitions.
The Silla University Student Invention Club (E.P.C.P) won three awards, including the grand prize and gold prize, among over 2,200 participants at the 20th Korea Youth Invention Idea Contest hosted by the Korea University Invention Association, Kongju National University, and Korea Polytechnic University.
Additionally, at the international invention competition, the 2021 World Invention Creativity Olympics, which featured over 1,000 individuals and companies from more than 20 countries, they received three awards including gold and silver prizes.
At the domestic invention idea contest, the awards were as follows: △Grand Prize (Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award) - Jeong Gyeong-ho (3rd year), "Smart Scoreboard" △Gold Prize (Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office Award) - Moon Hyun-cheol (2nd year), "Control of One-Way Entry on Back Roads" △Gold Prize (President of Daejin University Award) - Shin Min-seop (1st year), "Device to Prevent Fatal Accidents Caused by Illegal Parking."
At the international World Invention Creativity Olympics, six students participated in three teams. △Gold Prize - Jeong Ji-won, Park Ki-beom (2nd year), "Counter Device for Rotator Cuff Tear Rehabilitation Equipment" △Silver Prize - Kim Gyu-tae (3rd year), Kim Yoo-jin (2nd year), "Medicine Container Utilizing Cognitive Function" △Silver Prize - Min Tae-hoon, Park Jung-hoo (3rd year), "Traffic Safety System Applying PLC."
Jeong Gyeong-ho, the grand prize winner at the domestic contest, said, "I am happy that my idea won the grand prize," and added, "I want to gather various ideas and even start a business."
Professor Kim Soon-ho of the Department of Intelligent Automotive Engineering said, "The invention club E.P.C.P, which has grown to be a pride of the university, has been achieving excellent results every year despite its short 10-year history," and added, "We will guide them so that good ideas lead to startups."
Professor Kim Ki-wan from the same department said, "Watching the students' passion for competitions gives strength to the advising professors," and added, "We will continue to develop the capabilities of the invention club students for new challenges next year."
