The city announced on the 13th that, in cooperation with the Incheon Police Agency, it plans to replace the traffic lights at 346 intersections near 85 elementary schools and 102 kindergartens with yellow lights to create a safe traffic environment, including a vehicle speed limit of 30 km/h.
Accordingly, the number of yellow traffic lights in school zones in the Incheon area will increase from the existing 410 locations to 756 locations.
The city plans to prioritize replacing traffic lights at intersections near elementary schools where the risk of accidents is high and where many installation complaints have been raised.
Along with this, the city will also promote the installation of traffic signal facilities for children's safety, such as 'smart crosswalks' equipped with voice guidance assist devices and ground traffic lights, and real-time sound signal devices integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT).
