Muan-gun Contributes to Overcoming COVID-19 and Economic Revitalization in the 3rd Supplementary Budget
Budget of 736 Billion Won Allocated, Up 10.86%... Focus on Reducing Resident Burden
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 13th that it has finalized the 3rd supplementary budget for 2021, amounting to 736 billion won, an increase of about 72.1 billion won compared to the original budget, to overcome difficulties caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and revitalize the stagnant local economy.
According to the county, the 3rd supplementary budget, approved at the 273rd temporary session of the Muan County Council, includes budgets aimed at stabilizing residents' livelihoods and efficiently managing county administration, covering urgent projects directly related to residents' daily lives.
Major budgets to overcome COVID-19 include 20.3 billion won for the COVID-19 coexistence national support fund, 9 billion won for the Muan-type coexistence support fund, 4.2 billion won related to local love gift certificates, 500 million won to support the operation of the regional vaccination center, and 300 million won for the construction of a new screening clinic.
Additionally, the budget includes funds to complete major projects of the 7th local government term and various national and provincial projects, which will accelerate the promotion of key local issues.
Key projects include 1.6 billion won for the establishment of the Aviation MRO Industrial Complex, 1.2 billion won for the Muan-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, 600 million won for the Makerspace establishment and operation project, and 700 million won for the construction of the Muan Cultural Center.
Following a restructuring of about 5.4 billion won in the 2nd supplementary budget, the county secured about 6.6 billion won in resources through cancellation or reduction of projects affected by COVID-19 and cost savings in the public sector in this 3rd supplementary budget, allocating these funds to ensure residents' livelihood safety.
In particular, the Muan County Council (Chairman Kim Dae-hyun) also returned a budget of 95 million won, including overseas training expenses for council members, participating in securing resources for public welfare.
Governor Kim San said, “This supplementary budget focuses on revitalizing the local economy, which has been stagnant due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring residents' safety, and reducing their burdens. We will promptly execute the allocated budgets such as the coexistence support fund to provide practical help to residents.”
Meanwhile, Muan-gun proactively provided disaster relief funds to all residents before last year's Chuseok holiday and injected emergency support funds to low-income groups, small business owners, and self-employed individuals to stabilize livelihoods.
