Gwangju Nam-gu Develops 2,000-Pyeong 'Family Healing Village' in Deoknam-dong
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A large-scale family healing village with a natural ecological experience center and camping site will be established in Deoknam-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae).
Nam-gu announced on the 13th that it was selected in the '2022 Development Restriction Zone Environment and Culture' contest conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and will invest 1 billion KRW by the end of next year to create a 6,611㎡ (2,000 pyeong) family healing village in the Deoknam-dong area.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Development Restriction Zone Environment and Culture contest project aims to transform spaces designated as green belts into attractive recreational areas to improve the quality of life for local residents and to enhance welfare and income for residents living near development restriction zones.
In particular, Mayor Kim has focused on the fact that a significant portion of the district's area is green belt, and has devoted efforts to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's contest projects to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2019, starting with the Daegolje waterfront space, he has achieved significant results in the environmental field, including the creation of the Bunjeoksan The Green Nuri-gil and Hyangdeungje Health Nuri-gil.
The Deoknam Village Family Healing Village project, the fourth achievement of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's contest projects, is expected to be reborn as a space where people, environment, and themes harmonize by utilizing the area's pristine natural environment.
First, at the entrance of the family healing village, facilities such as showers, cooking areas, restrooms, and outdoor resting areas will be established. Near the auxiliary facilities, the first camping zone will be created, equipped with parking spaces and camping decks.
After passing through the first camping zone, the second camping zone will be established along a forest path, featuring parking spaces, camping grounds, and walking trails. Behind the second camping zone, an arboretum, natural ecological experience center, and outdoor resting areas will be developed as ecological experience spaces.
Additionally, Nam-gu plans to form a social cooperative composed of village residents to manage the facilities of the Deoknam Village Family Healing Village. The profits generated here will be used to improve the welfare of village residents and for reinvestment within the family healing village.
Mayor Kim stated, "Deoknam Village Family Healing Village is surrounded by forests on all sides, and is naturally preserved with minimal vehicle noise and few people." He added, "We will create the best family recreational space here that all citizens of Gwangju can use."
Meanwhile, Nam-gu secured 3 billion KRW in project funds through the 'Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project' contest hosted by the National Balanced Development Committee in 2019, and is currently promoting the Saetteul Village development project in Deoknam Village, including the construction of a village community center and expansion of the village access road, scheduled for completion by 2022.
