Vice Minister Park Ki-young Urges Siemens Energy to Expand Investment, Technology Cooperation, and Use of Korean Products
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] On the 13th, Park Ki-young, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, met with Siemens Energy executives to request investment and technological cooperation for the revitalization of the domestic hydrogen and renewable energy industries, as well as the utilization of Korean products.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Vice Minister Park met with Jochen Eickholt, Vice Chairman of Siemens Energy, and his delegation in the morning to exchange opinions on measures to revitalize the hydrogen·and renewable energy industries.
This meeting took place in the context of expanding public-private cooperation between the two countries in the energy transition sector following the announcement of full-scale carbon neutrality policies, since the signing of the 'Korea-Germany Energy Partnership' between the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in December 2019.
Vice Chairman Eickholt introduced Siemens Energy's vision for hydrogen and renewable energy businesses and expressed hope that Siemens Energy would participate in Korea's future government and private sector energy transition projects.

Vice Minister Park emphasized, "We hope to expand the use of Korean companies' products when procuring Siemens Energy's hydrogen, renewable energy businesses, and energy storage systems (ESS), and to strengthen technological cooperation between Korean energy innovation companies and Siemens Energy. We hope that strengthening the partnership with Siemens Energy will serve as an opportunity for the mutual growth of industries in both countries."
