KEPCO Supports Air Purifiers for Welfare Facilities in Rural Areas Near Power Equipment
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced on the 12th that it will provide approximately 920 high-efficiency air purifiers worth about 1 billion KRW to around 540 rural welfare facilities nationwide.
This project is being promoted to help residents living communally in rural welfare facilities reduce concerns and inconveniences caused by fine dust and live healthily.
Priority support will be given to welfare facilities housing elderly and disabled individuals who are vulnerable to fine dust and relatively underserved by government support. In particular, support targets were selected by comprehensively considering the number of users and recommendations from local governments in welfare facilities located in 'coal-fired power plant dense areas' and 'East Coast-Shingapyeong transmission line construction areas' among rural eup and myeon regions nationwide. Each facility will be provided with two high-efficiency (Grade 1) air purifiers capable of removing ultrafine dust in spaces of 25 pyeong or larger, and maintenance and repair will be supported going forward. The distribution is planned to be completed before the high-concentration fine dust seasonal management system is implemented in December.
On the 10th, KEPCO also delivered daily necessities to the elderly at the Jeongseon-gun Nursing Home in Gangwon Province, where air purifiers were first distributed.
