'Foreigners, Entertainment Venues, and Students' Infections Continue... 21 Confirmed Cases in Gwangju in One Day on the 10th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] In the Gwangju area, COVID-19 infections have been occurring consecutively among foreigners, entertainment establishments, and students, spreading to family members, acquaintances, and coworkers.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 11th, 21 people were confirmed positive in one day, classified as cases 4393 to 4413.
Four cases related to workplaces employing foreigners, etc. (4396, 4401, 4402, 4406), three cases related to a logistics center in Gwangsan-gu (4404, 4409, 4410), three cases related to a middle school in Buk-gu (4407, 4408, 4413), four cases related to contact with workers at entertainment establishments in Seo-gu (4393, 4394, 4440, 4405), one symptomatic confirmed case (4399), one case related to confirmed patients from other cities/provinces (4397), one case related to an employee of a small and medium enterprise in Gwangsan-gu (4395), and four cases with unknown infection routes (4398, 4403, 4411, 4412) were reported.
Since the end of July, Gwangju city has been conducting diagnostic tests for foreigners and others, and as COVID-19 infections spread mainly among foreigners last week, an administrative order for diagnostic testing was issued.
Four additional confirmed cases were identified through proactive testing of foreigners, and three people related to the Gwangsan-gu logistics center were confirmed positive while in self-quarantine.
The number of confirmed cases related to entertainment establishments increased by one (case 4405) from three (cases 4393, 4394, 4400). These individuals are colleagues and acquaintances of a confirmed patient (case 4188) from an entertainment establishment in Seo-gu who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the 2nd and were in self-quarantine.
At a large agricultural and marine products distribution center in Seo-gu, Gwangju, a merchant (case 4397) was confirmed positive. This patient is known to have been infected by a family member (Incheon Gyeyang-gu case 1158) who visited Gwangju from Incheon on the 4th and 5th.
Previously, one person (case 4395) was infected through contact with a small and medium enterprise employee (case 4306) in Gwangsan-gu who was confirmed positive on the 3rd.
Health authorities are investigating four cases with unknown infection routes (4398, 4403, 4411, 4412).
