The Oh Geo-don Sexual Violence Joint Countermeasures Committee announced on the 10th that it plans to hold a press conference at 10 a.m. on the 14th at the Busan Sexual Violence Counseling Center education hall, urging strict punishment for Oh Geo-don.
According to the committee, the first appellate trial for former Mayor Oh was originally scheduled for last month, but was postponed to the 15th of this month after Oh’s side requested the court to re-examine the medical records submitted by the victim.
In a statement released that day, the victim said, “At first, they talked about what it means to be a ‘victim,’ but now they are forcing me to be a ‘mentally ill person’ as well,” adding, “The claim of Oh Geo-don’s twelve lawyers is whether the post-traumatic stress disorder developed after being forcibly molested by Oh Geo-don is accurate, and their reason for delaying the trial by a month is that they want to re-examine my mental state as the victim, not Oh Geo-don.”
The victim questioned, “They say the basis for suspicion is that I actively demanded resignation and proactively sued secondary perpetrators, including malicious commenters. I don’t understand what is wrong with telling Oh Geo-don, who is 100% at fault, ‘I am not at fault, so you should leave your job,’ and in a confusing situation, I just slapped my own cheek to regain composure. Then what else was I supposed to do?”
She raised her voice, saying, “Please stop questioning the condition I was diagnosed with at three hospitals, including a university hospital, and I hope Oh Geo-don undergoes a mental examination instead.”
She also expressed, “Stop the attempts to force a settlement by mobilizing your wife, son, and in-laws. Receive punishment commensurate with your crimes. I don’t know why your entire family keeps contacting me one after another, but I have no interest in your family affairs and don’t need to know. Please stop harassing me so I can breathe and live, and just leave me alone.”
The committee is considering whether to disclose the appellate brief and the request for expert examination submitted by former Mayor Oh to the court during the press conference on the 14th.
A committee official stated, “The request for re-examination of the victim by former Mayor Oh’s side is causing not only great anger but also inflicting another deep wound.”
