Whistleblower X: "Prosecutors Failed to Keep Parole Promise After Multiple On-Site Investigations"...40 Million Won Compensation Lawsuit
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Ji Mo (56), known as 'Whistleblower X,' who first reported the Channel A attempted coercion case allegations to the media, has filed a lawsuit claiming that although he cooperated with the prosecution's investigation, the promised parole was not honored, as confirmed on the 8th.
According to the legal community, Ji filed a lawsuit last October at the Seoul Central District Court against the government, seeking 40 million won in damages.
According to Ji's legal representative, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office summoned Ji, who had been previously detained, about 130 times from February 2016 to August 2017 to cooperate with investigations into securities and stock price manipulation crimes. Ji demands compensation for the mental and physical damages caused by the frequent summons and investigations, stating that the prosecution promised parole in exchange for his cooperation but did not fulfill it.
Ji is known as the person who, acting as a representative of former Value Invest Korea (VIK) CEO Lee Cheol, contacted former Channel A reporter Lee Dong-jae and first reported the attempted coercion case allegations to MBC.
