Haenam-gun, 95% of Residents to Receive COVID-19 Mutual Support National Subsidy

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jeonnam Haenam-gun (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) announced on the 8th that it is making every effort to ensure there are no delays in the payment of the COVID-19 Coexistence National Support Fund, which provides 250,000 KRW per person.

The COVID-19 Coexistence National Support Fund targets households with a combined health insurance premium (as of June 30) at or below 80%, with special criteria applied to dual-income and single-person households.

However, high-net-worth individuals with a property tax base of 900 million KRW or more and those with financial income exceeding 20 million KRW are excluded. According to the criteria, it is expected that 16.2 billion KRW will be paid to 64,868 residents, accounting for 95% of Haenam-gun’s population.

Eligibility can be checked online through the National Secretary Notification Service, Naver app, KakaoTalk, Toss, credit card company websites and call centers, and the National Health Insurance Service website and app. Offline verification is available at the local town and township offices and credit card company counters.

Applications via online credit card company websites are accepted from the 6th of this month until the 29th of next month, while applications at bank counters and town and township offices are accepted from the 13th of this month until the 29th of next month.

During the first week of applications, a 5-day rotation system based on the last digit of the birth year is implemented to manage the expected surge in applications. (Online: September 6?10, Offline: September 13?17)

Eligible recipients can receive the support fund via credit or debit cards by applying through the credit card company’s website or at bank counters linked to the card.

Notably, from the 13th, the fund can also be received as Haenam Love Gift Certificates. Applications for Haenam Love Gift Certificates are only available offline and are issued as paper vouchers.

The places where the COVID-19 Coexistence National Support Fund can be used can be searched via Naver Maps, KakaoMap, and the National Support Fund usage locations, and are the same as the usage locations for the Haenam Love Gift Certificates within the region.

The usage period is until December 31 to revitalize the local economy, and refunds of remaining balances are not possible.

Additionally, during the period, the fund can be used at newly added Haenam-gun businesses through additional merchant applications. Businesses wishing to apply for additional merchant registration should contact the Department of Economic Industry.

Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “We have formed a T/F team to ensure swift and accurate payment of the support fund and established a close cooperative system among related departments to prevent any delays,” adding, “We hope the National Support Fund will help residents’ lives and the recovery of the stagnant local economy.”
