Jeonbuk Province Implements Comprehensive Measures for Chuseok Holiday

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 8th that it will implement a ‘Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Plan’ so that all residents can spend a comfortable holiday with thorough quarantine measures and that the holiday can be an opportunity for the recovery of daily life and people’s livelihoods.

This plan includes 16 tasks in four areas?quarantine medical care, spreading sharing culture, livelihood economy, and situation response?to prevent additional spread during the Chuseok period amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic while allowing residents to enjoy a rich and comfortable holiday.

First, to block additional COVID-19 spread during the holiday, the plan encourages small-scale hometown visits and will conduct intensive quarantine inspections at major multi-use facilities.

This includes compliance with minimum personnel hometown visits and social distancing standards, quarantine inspections without blind spots, provision of quarantine-friendly holiday services, and seamless quarantine management and medical service provision.

Second, various support measures will be implemented to stabilize and recover the livelihoods of residents, including small business owners exhausted by COVID-19.

The core measures include smooth payment of various support funds for livelihood recovery, customized support to alleviate living and business burdens, and spreading a culture of sharing to care for marginalized groups.

Third, to revitalize the local economy, consumption of excellent local products will be promoted, and efforts will be made to manage the quality of major items and stabilize prices on the ancestral rites table so that residents can purchase high-quality seasonal goods.

To this end, revitalization of traditional markets and alleyway commercial districts, support for sales of excellent local products, price management of Chuseok seasonal goods, and provision of a safe purchasing environment for major items will be thoroughly implemented.

Finally, a meticulous situation response system by sector will be maintained, and convenience support measures such as traffic and waste management will be promoted to ensure residents have no inconvenience during holiday activities.

The province plans to perfectly establish a situation response system by sector and promote traffic and environmental measures, residents’ participation in social distancing, and various convenience support policies.

Deputy Governor Jo Bong-eop said, “It is important to spend this Chuseok holiday well to turn the fourth wave of COVID-19 into a downward trend and recover daily life,” and requested, “All residents should follow quarantine rules well and spend a calm holiday.”
